Chrome & Edge Plugin: Rollout for the Entire Company (Administrators)

This article focuses on a centralized rollout by an IT administrator who is familiar with Group Policies. In general, the process is structured as follows:

  1. Test on your own system

  2. Deployment via Group Policies on a test system

  3. Company-wide rollout to the entire user group

2.1 Chrome

This section is only relevant for Google Chrome. For Microsoft Edge, you can skip directly to section 2.2.

2.1.1 Install Chrome Policy Template

2.1.2. Configuring the Chrome Extension

After installing the ADMX policy templates, you can use the Group Policy Editor (gpmc.msc) underUser Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Google\ Google Chrome \ Extensions to modify the list of extensions to be installed.

2.1.3 Rollout

After successfully modifying the policies in 2.1.2, it may take up to 24 hours or until the next restart of a computer for the policy to be applied. You must also ensure that the modified policy is actually applied to all or selected users.
